In early November, Backyard Opera spoke with triple J Hottest 100 winners Ocean Alley to discuss the upcoming festival season, including their plans for Laneway Festival on February 1st – 9th. Part of this discussion included talks of new music, which the band has been working on throughout the year.

Sly’s work transports us to the delightfully perverse world she has created within her artistic endeavours, and we sat down over a coffee to chat about the inspiration behind how she creates.

Stuffed behind the Central Park buildng in the heart of Chippendale, you would never know to look for Gyusha unless you’d been there before. While it initially seems to be a small takeaway joint, Gyusha is only revealed to be a cook-it-yourself restaurant when the smell of sizzling, marbled meat wafts up your nose as you enter.

Over the 22nd – 24th November, all kinds of artists, dancers, gypsies, soul searchers, students and dreamers made their way to the Bohemian Beatfreaks festival in Queensland for a lineup of bass, trance, house and techno music.
