At the iconic Iceberg Club, the morning sun shone hot and bright over the invitees of Bondi-born brand Ten Pieces. Mingling on the balconies above an emptied pool, sipping on aperitivos by Matt Whiley of Scout and customising their very own The Daily Edited monogrammed phone chargers and notebooks; guests chatted happily, overlooking the midday surfers and rolling waves.
Inside the Big Top theatre, the iconic scenery was replaced with a blank stage, a canvas primed to be painted with Cassin’s latest creations. However, these creations were overlooked amidst a confusing jumble of too-short musical performances, DJ sets, and off-key dance numbers.
Attendees were guided through Double Rainbouu’s presentation; transported away from the noise of the inner city and into a separate world altogether.
In an unprecedented turn of events, Anna Quan sought to tip the fashion week formula on its head and opt for a presentation instead of a runway show. Guests were invited up to the first floor of Carol Crawford’s studio in Surry Hills, where they were met with a cast of Anna Quan-clad girls and boys.
Inside Gallery Two, it was only just past 11am but champagne was already flowing in anticipation of We Are Kindred’s Bohème Heart Resort ‘20 runway presentation. The hall had been transformed from the blank space that was the FDS Innovators set; now styled to look like the interior hallways of some sort of luxury.
On an otherwise bare runway, oversized golden flowers with neon stems set the initial tone for alice McCALL Resort 20: Cosmia, on day three of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. A huge audience milled around in anticipation, chatting excitedly in their seats or snapping a picture in front of one of the ornate flowers.
As always, the worlds of fashion and activewear colliding was a magnificent and exciting affair. Entitled Physical Education by P.E Nation the show was a vibrant celebration of movement with the new collection inspired by a strong 90’s sports aesthetic.

Walking into Gallery One at Carriageworks for Tigerlily’s Resort 2020 was a breath of fresh air - stepping from the hot early-afternoon sun into the vast, nearly empty warehouse. At the centre of the space was a brightly lit runway, filled with abstract white sculptures and lush green plants.
