You know that thing that happens when you rub your eyes too much? Bright colours and a sparkly sense of vision? Well, for me, that’s Flight Facilities, a band that plays the aural accompaniment to a kaleidoscopic animation – a harmony between vision and sound that is out of this world and indescribable.

The air was thick with anticipation and the distinct but faint smell of cannabis as the crowd waited for the show to start. When the lights began to turn on, and the smoke machine started to blow, you knew it was on and wasn’t going to be off any time soon. On stage was a massive DJ deck with the Flight Facilities logo on the front. While the twinned Fs were seemingly non-descript before, once the performance began, the icon lit up, pulsing to the beat of the music. And then, on walked the boys themselves, Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell, aka Flight Facilities.

Joining Gruzman and Lyell were guest performers Owl Eyes aka Brooke Addamo and Ric Rufio, the energy between them all feeding into the madness that the crowd was giving in return. With a massive set list, Flight Facilities made sure they didn’t leave the crowd thirsty, playing all their hits from the past eight years and more, with an Aretha Franklin tribute at the end capping off the night perfectly.

True highlights of the night had to be the classics; with Clair De Lune, Sunshine and Heart Attack being personal and crowd faves. For a visual indication of how the night went down, check out our gallery.
