Alison Wonderland @ The Enmore, December 7
The line outside Enmore Theatre snaked along the street, filling Enmore Road with Sydney's youth, ready for Alison Wonderland. As Manu Crooks took the stage to warm up the crowd, the venue was packed from wall-to-wall. Jumping around the stage with a crazy energy, Manu played a collection of hard hitting originals such as ‘Everyday’ and fan favourites like ‘Day Ones’. Before Alison even graced the stage, the Sydney rapper, who borrows from the style of Atlanta MCs, had the crowd moshing and creating a sea of arms swinging around in the air as he covered songs such as Travis Scott's ‘SICKO MODE’. After a brief intermission, the lights in Enmore Theatre dimmed and roars filled the building. A visual of Alison Wonderland's mark on fire was illuminated by lasers on the wall behind her set up and then, after a brief flash of light, Alison was standing there, teleported behind her set up. Beginning the set with her playing her electric cello, it was an emotive night and an energetic set. Alison effortlessly mixed between her own original songs such ‘High’ and ‘Church’ with trap bangers and interesting build-ups. Showing a great love for her fans and their ability to be vulnerable with her throughout the night, we saw plenty of tears in the front row as Alison dropped ‘U Don't Know’. Alison Wonderland took things to a spiritual level last Friday night.
