Pleasure in motion
When attending a festival, or really any place where there is music and people are dancing, there’s a special emotion that comes to life. As festival morph into mega events with huge budgets, sometimes it pays to return to the simple ingredients that make it all sparkle. In Rotterdam, at a lovely, low budget festival, on a 37-degree day, there was that special something uniting attendees and lifting spirits up high.
Along with the use of fire, language and the need for connection through family or society, dance is a fundamental human need that unites all cultures. Perhaps this is due to the connection between mind and body, and the way that activating this connection through movement is often used to heal a damaged person. Dance therapy is now suggested for patients today as treatment for emotional and therapeutic support, as dance allows individuals to connect their inner-self.
