Single of the Week: The PB’s “Anicone”

Single of the Week: The PB’s “Anicone”

Fresh off the musical press is the PB’s new single ‘Anicone’, which comes off the back of their debut ‘64’ released in 2017. Formerly known as the Pierce Brosnan’s, this follow up hit by the PB’s is a loud and commandeering tune that’s set to develop the band’s presence in the Australian music scene.

Reminiscent of early Dune Rats and Violet Soho, Anicone incorporates guttural-yet-melodic vocals, abrasive guitars and earnest storytelling in such a whirlwind way that you’re not sure if you’re meant to feel uplifted or pensive after just one listen. The PB’s tackle themes of hopelessness, depression in futility with catchy guitar hooks and strong vocals, adding depth to the listening experience and providing listeners with another level of connection and enjoyment to the single.  The PB’s and their new release Anicone play into the classic vibe of the Australian afternoon, as if it was made for road trips, or lazing in the summer sun.

The PB’s have strong influences from 90’s punk rock, taking influence from the likes of Weezer, Cloud Nothings and WAAVES. Having shared stages with the likes of Australian bands such as Philadelphia Grand Jury, Good Boy and RAAVE TAPES, its safe to say we will be seeing more from this energetic four piece in the future.
