Mix of the Week: Zanerobe / Washing Cars with Rüfüs Du Sol.

Being no stranger to the Australian EDM scene, Rufus Du Sol takes on this week’s Mix of the week. Pairing up with Australian local brand Zanerobe, 1/3 of Rüfüs Du Sol, JÜAN brings together a deep mix full of instrumental sounds, and low key melodies coalesced with recurring kicks and hi-hats.

Rüfüs Du Sol – a three-man dance/alternative group made up of keyboardist Jon George, guitarist Tyrone Lindqvist and drummer James Hunt since 2010, came together with synchronized interests towards electronic music and artists such as Booka Shade, and Trentemøller. This shared taste of music resonated to make them become a highly sought after trio in Australia and around the world.

In 2013, it was their debut album, Atlas which caught the attention of the Australian Albums Chart placing them at number 1. In the following two years, RÜFÜS released their single “You Were Right” from their forthcoming second album which peaked at number 20 of the Australia Aria chart and certified as platinum.

As they took off internationally, the US took notice on the very similar name to Chaka Khan’s 1970’s Chicago funk band named Rufus, who topped the charts with “Tell Me Something Good” and “Aint Nobody”. After a monthly fight of exchanging “strongly worded letters” the men agreed to change their title to Rüfüs Du Sol which they only use when performing in America.

Together Rüfüs have progressed to perform at multiple international shows as supporting and headlining acts at some of the most renowned music venues and shows to date. This special mixtape for Zanerobe will allow you to enjoy the essence of deep house produced by JÜAN who solely dedicates himself to the deeper side of house music (as featured in one of our previous MOTW’s).
