Album of the Week: Tired Lion - Dumb Days
Perth band Tired Lion first appeared on our radar in 2015 when they won Triple J’s Unearthed J Award. After relentless international touring off the back of two EPs they settled down with Luke Boerdam of Violent Soho as producer and renowned engineer Dave Parkin to record their debut full-length, Dumb Days.
Dumb Days is a collection of energetic and emotional angst-ridden punk rock. Front-woman Sophie Hopes sings on the pangs of coming-of-age, relationships and melancholia. Her lyricism is engaging for its committed delivery and simple, but evocative wordsmithing. Masterfully balanced with pounding drums, distorted guitars and driving bass, the album provides a cathartic dive into the heart of your inner jaded teenager.
