Bad Friday 2019
Don’t they grow up so fast? The Inner West’s favourite street party has made it to the double digits this year for its tenth anniversary.
Once again taking place on Good Friday, this carnival of all things inner city grunge, is shifting across the road to Fraser Park. Surrounded by goods lines, warehouses and factories the one-day festival will be as loud as ever, and promises to be the highlight of your Easter Long Weekend.
But location is not the only thing that’s new. For the first time Bad Friday will welcome an international act, and that title goes to the UK’s Jungle. The large, amorphous collective will bring their distinctive brand of soul to the concrete end of Marrickville.
Joining them on the main stage is a roster of local heavy weights, ranging from The Jezabels, who are sharing their big 1-0 with the festival, to the DMA’s and DZ Deathrays.
On the second stage, home-grown talent will be making itself heard. King Street favourites Johnny Hunter will play alongside the next project from the Royal Headache crew, Shogun and The Sheets, as well as local five piece Georgia June.
As a platform for local acts, Bad Friday is almost unparalleled. 70 per cent of the artists on the line up are from Sydney, and the festival is taking place in what must be the spiritual home of DIY culture, Marrickville/Sydenham. Pre-sale tickets are available now, so grab a few and support the thriving music scene that survives against all the odds.
