Our favourite all-Aussie festival has just dropped its line-up for 2019. Continuing its tradition of bringing together the best of this nation’s talent with the hottest emerging local acts, Yours & Owls have put Amy Shark, Courtney Barnett, Golden Features and Hot Dub Time Machine at the top of the billing.

Back & Forth with Ruby Fields

Since starting out busking on the streets of Cronulla, Ruby Fields has shot to local and international recognition, playing across Australia and a few recent shows in London. Her song writing has been praised for its direct and raw lyricism in addition to well-rounded instrumentation. We had a chat with her about putting it all together and making plans for Splendour 2019.

MØ and Duckwrth @ Metro Theatre May 8

Los Angeles-based singer, rapper and graphic designer, Jared Lee AKA Duckwrth, opened the stage for Danish singer and electronic artist MØ immediately prior to the release of his EP The Falling Man, the first since his 2017 release An XXTRA UUGLY Mixtape. Duckwrth treated the audience an exclusive taste of his smooth new song Nobody Falls, featuring Kiana Ledé, Terrace Martin and Medasin.

Nick Murphy at the Enmore Theatre 14/5

Nick Murphy has taken a considerable amount of time away from the spotlight since releasing music under the Chet Faker banner. His decision to drop such an established name is ambitious, to say the least. With the release of his third album Run Fast Sleep Naked, he has returned.

Courtyard at Ivy

Australian hip-hop is at a turning point in 2019. The old guard of Hilltop Hoods and Bliss N Eso has stepped down, and the next generation is rising up. On Easter Sunday, Sydney’s Ivy was host to this, with the main indoor stage bouncing into the night.

Bad Friday 2019

On the first day of the Easter Long Weekend, families were on road trips, bars were closing for an early night and Good Friday mass was in service. However, along Railway Parade in Sydenham, a local indie-rock block party was engaging in a much more wholesome activity.
