All in Mix of the Week
The hour long mix can be taken many different ways. Whether it is a recorded set that is taken from a live performance, a sampling of tracks to demonstrate a DJ’s method of selection or a furious blend that showcases a DJ’s technical abilities, the format is what one makes of it.
A self-professed lover of house and techno music, Stefan Serer releases mixtapes from the heart of Australian EDM, Melbourne. However, this week he has taken listeners around the world to England’s capital with his Destination London mixtape.
Based in Central Queensland, the Treepsyde Festival aims to combine a love for the environment with a love for music. With tree plantings in the day, the regeneration of Australia’s natural bushland was supplemented at night by soothing music. Ant Nebula and Amar Dhall of Altar Records provided this soothing music.
Such a varied mix as this, from Osaka based producer and DJ Le Makeup, is difficult to wrap into words. The usual categories of genre, influence or style would be in appropriate descriptors for the wide-ranging, introspective collection of tracks.
