Tristan Martinez’s Waiting Room: A Study in Pause and Presence

Tristan Martinez’s Waiting Room: A Study in Pause and Presence

Tristan Martinez, the New York-based artist with roots in L.A.’s sun-baked streets and Lower Manhattan’s gritty skate scene, has unveiled his latest photo book, Waiting Room, published by Friend Editions.

More than just a collection of images, Waiting Room is a quiet meditation on life’s in-between spaces—the fleeting instants just before or after something shifts. Martinez captures the poetry of pause, the tension of anticipation, and the stillness that often goes unnoticed. “It’s that feeling of standing on the edge of a moment,” he explains, “when something is about to unfold—or has just slipped away.”

Through this lens, Martinez invites us to linger, observe, and honour the subtle transitions that shape our everyday lives.
