Jonah Hill's adidas Superstar Is Dropping This Week
Jonah Hill‘s long-awaited adidas Originals Superstar collaboration is finally releasing this weekend. The multi-hyphenate’s link-up with the Three Stripes was officially announced in January of this year, noting that the duo will be working on two Samba sneakers and one Superstar.
The adidas Originals Superstar in question channels a chunky skateboarding aesthetic, tapping into Hill’s love for the culture. In speaking about his inspiration, Hill said, “I started thinking back to all the experiences I had growing up while wearing [Superstars], and tried to make my fantasy version of what I would have wanted when I first wore them.” Hill, who wrote and directed the coming-of-age skate culture film Mid-90s, opts for a bold and pronounced Three Stripes on the mid-panels and thick laces — which have a heritage in the B-Boy scene of the ’80s as well as in skate culture.
The sneaker is constructed with a white full-grain leather upper, resting atop an off -white rubber sole unit. Additional details include “JH” and “Superstar” stitching in Jonah’s handwriting, and a lion embroidered on the back of the tongue, an ode to one of his tattoos.
The Jonah Hill x adidas Originals Superstar will release on July 11 at adidas.com/jonah_hill and retailers all around the world. The pair will cost $200 AUD.
