Everyone was looking a little dustier than the day before on day two of Splendour, but there was no shortage of hype for the huge day to come.

In the amphitheatre, Trophy Eyes surprised the audience with a hilariously unexpected performance of an expletive-riddled Chris Lilley song - performing alongside the comedian himself.

Ruby Fields sang to an excited audience on the GW McLennan side stage, with the highlight of her set being a riotous cover of Britney Spears' Toxic.

Back on the main stage, the audience was packed for Hottest 100 champs Ocean Alley, who performed their pitch-perfect set with their classic Northern Beaches chilled-out vibe.

Catfish and the Bottlemen invigorated the audience with their high-energy set and left the crowd with a whole lot of pent up energy to expend as they pushed and shoved to make their way to the front for the Saturday headliner. The poorly-controlled crowd crushes were worth it, however, as soon as Childish Gambino took the stage. His 75 minute set took the audience to church with its mix of new and old Gambino hits, with the crowd going absolutely wild as soon as the singer was lifted on a raised platform to the opening chords of "This Is America". With the sad news coming in mid-afternoon that festival closer Chance The Rapper had cancelled, Gambino is going to be a tough act to follow for the final day of Splendour.
