The Weekly Collection #78

Meet the MFW ambassador, Heart of Bone’s newest collection, and a glorious collection of vintage garments in this week’s collection.

Melbourne Fashion Week Appoints Supermodel Ambassador

The ambassador for Melbourne Fashion Week 2019 has been officially announced this week, and it’s a familiar face to the festival. Internationally renowned model Adut Akech has been honoured with the position this year, having walked the runway herself just a few years ago in 2016. Since then, Akech has worked with huge designers including Fendi, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Versace and Moschino, and has appeared on Vogue covers internationally. Announcing her position as ambassador on Instagram, the 19-year-old model said, “I’m so proud to be involved and supporting Australian fashion and it’s designers”. On Facebook, Melbourne Fashion Week echoed the announcement, saying “Welcome home Adut, we couldn’t be happier to have you”. As part of her ambassadorship, Akech will be strutting her stuff on the Opening Town Hall Runway as well as speaking at The Fashion Forum. Melbourne Fashion Week will run from August 28 to September 5, and you can find out more details at their website: https://mfw.melbourne.vic.gov.au/.

Heart of Bone’s Introduces Dark Fairytale-inspired Collection

Melbourne-based jewellery brand Heart of Bone, beloved by celebs from Billie Eilish to the late Karl Lagerfeld, have recently released their latest collection. Staying true to the brands’ “gothic edge and rock’n’roll spirit”, the “Poison Ivy” collection draws its inspiration from twisted fairytales. Themes of romance, beauty, lost innocence, revenge and true love take centre-stage in the beautiful new collection - the purity of Sleeping Beauty meeting the dark magic of Maleficent. Poison Ivy features unique, opulent designs which place twists on existing, adored styles, such as the Bad Bunny Ring and Slayer Earring. In Poison Ivy, these silhouettes are given new life with inspiration from Briar Rose (Aurora) and the story of Sleeping Beauty; with intricately carved signet rings, skills, hearts and charms intertwined in Ivy. As usual for the bespoke brand, each piece is hallmarked and hand finished. The wickedly beautiful new collection is now available exclusively online with prices from $55 to $400 - head on over to www.heartofbone.com.
