Bohemian Beauty at We Are Kindred

Inside Gallery Two, it was only just past 11am but champagne was already flowing in anticipation of We Are Kindred’s Bohème Heart Resort ‘20 runway presentation. The hall had been transformed from the blank space that was the FDS Innovators set; now styled to look like the interior hallways of some sort of luxury, Gothic masterpiece of a building. On the floor, a distressed blue bohemian rug print marked out the runway; and thus the scene was set for the luxury-meets-bohemian vibes of We Are Kindred.

Featuring breathtaking cornflower blues, golden yellows and pure whites, the colour palette of Bohème Heart was muted and elegant. Flowing maxi dresses were given an edge with shirred waistlines stitched in contrasting colours; tailored playsuits were loosened up with slouchy fits and off-the-shoulder detailing and plunging necklines were softened with the use of elegantly draped fabrics.

Custom shoes were provided by Billini - from thigh-high suede boots to strappy heeled sandals. Minimalist prints, including sheer ginghams, sparse florals, and classic paisleys and polka dot upped the playfulness factor of the collection; alongside the models’ flushed, dewy cheeks, glossy eyelids and effortless waved, natural looking hair.

At Bohème Heart, the sister spirit of designers Lizzie and Georgie Renkert shone through in three uniquely charming dual walks, featuring a pair of models walking side by side, to the delight and surprise of the audience. These paired walks were some of the shows best; demonstrating the flow and unity of the collection whilst also symbolising a value at the core of the brand, - that being “the sisters’ deep respect for one another’s individual aesthetic”. They livened up the runway, providing delightful bursts of personality from the models, and showing off the brand’s cheeky charm.

We Are Kindred’s Bohème Heart was a display of the brand at its best; presenting feminine silhouettes that are sultry yet elegant, luxe yet effortlessly casual, modern and sleek but with a touch of the brands’ signature playful bohemia. As the models walked their encore loop of the runway for the finale, the audience clapped enthusiastically and unreservedly; becoming even more enthused when the Renkert sisters appeared for a brief, and well-deserved moment in the spotlight.
