The Weekly Collection #66
Cotton On ups their inclusivity, Game of Thrones brings the heat to the red carpet, the latest in ridiculous fashion, and your fave wrap-up of fashion sales. What more could you want?
Cotton On Is Ahead of the Curve
This week, homegrown fave for affordable on-trend fashion, Cotton On, launched Cotton On Curve - a dedicated plus-size collection focused on inclusive sizing. Touted on their website as being “designed exclusively for women sizes 16 to 24”, the range is a breath of fresh air for those seeking out fashion not simply to fit their size, but designed with their body shape in mind. The result? A stellar collection of basics and smart casual pieces from figure-hugging jeans to très chic silky slip skirts, that could easily take you from the office to your evening plans. The initial drop includes 50 pieces, including graphic tees, cute blouses, jackets, dresses, trousers and more; all of which are sure to be an absolute hit. In an age where inclusivity is key, and brands are increasingly considering customers who aren’t a stock-photo-size-0, Cotton On is certainly taking a step in the right direction with this gorgeous bespoke collection. Check it out here.
Game Of Thrones Slays The Red Carpet At Season 8 Premiere
Over the weekend, Game of Thrones stars lit up the red carpet in New York City for the much-anticipated premiere of its eighth season. The blockbuster HBO series, based off the book saga by George R.R. Martin, first hit TV screens in 2011. In the last eight years GoT has quickly become a cultural phenomenon, inspiring millions of fans worldwide and far too many babies named Danaerys. But dragons and incest and white walkers aside, the show has also inspired some killer red carpet looks from its stars, and the final premiere was no exception. Queen of Dragons and also my heart, Emilia Clarke, stunned in a blue chiffon Valentino gown, and Maisie Williams’ violet hair was adorably chic. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie definitely took home the prize for cutest (and most attractive) couple, while Nathalie Emmanuel positively glowed in an orange Ermanno Scervino gown. But there can only be one true queen on the throne of fashion, and on this red carpet, there was no competition: Gwendoline Christie (a.k.a. Lady Brienne) was drop dead gorgeous in a magnificent Iris van Herpen couture gown that honestly looked like pure magic. Now, fingers crossed she, and all my other faves, don’t drop dead in the actual premiere this weekend.
This Week In “Who Would Buy That Tho?”
Janties. Yes, apparently, this is a thing now. I truly wish it weren’t. Each week it seems there’s some new, ungodly creation of overpriced and truly baffling clothing items or accessories, that really make you wonder who would design that - and who would buy and subsequently WEAR it. Well, today, we have janties - jean panties - thus clearly proving that no item of clothing is safe. The “Navy Denim Panties” by Y/Project are available at SSENSE for a cool AUD$440, which would definitely be the priciest pair of underwear imaginable. If, for some reason, you want to buy yourself some janties, they can be found right here.
