The Weekly Collection #37

Quay’s newest collection, Topshop’s newest collaboration, Kendall Jenner’s latest controversy: it’s all wrapped up in the Weekly Collection.

Quay Australia Wants You To Practice Safe Specs

Melbourne-born eyewear brand Quay are an Aussie fashion staple. Whether you rock a cateye, aviator, or a flat-top frame, they’ve got the perfect sunglasses for you. As of this week, however, the brand have announced that they want to keep your eyes both sun-safe and screen-safe. The Blue Light collection features seven clear-lens glasses which block out harmful blue light that can emanate from your phone, laptop, or TV. This HEV light – short for high-energy visible light – can cause blurry vision, headaches and eye strain - so Quay promises to keep you free from these symptoms while keeping you looking stylish. Topshop Announces Collaboration With Halpern

This week, UK fashion giant Topshop announced their latest collaboration, this time, with British-based designer Michael Halpern. In December of last year, Halpern won the award for Emerging Talent at the British Fashion Awards, having dazzled the world with his sparkling, shining, sequin-bedazzled designs. His collaboration with Topshop will make his party-perfect pieces more accessible to a younger audience. If the teaser video[https://youtu.be/CAChI4IT894] is anything to go by, this will feature sequins and disco-inspired silhouettes galore. The 28-piece collaborative collection will be available from early November 2018, so mark your calendars and get ready to brighten up your wardrobe.

Kendall’s Latest Kontroversy

The Kardashian/Jenner clan are never short on drama, that’s for sure. This week, models around the world clapped back at Kendall after an interview she did with Love Magazine was published, in which she is quoted as saying: “Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do. More power to ‘em.” Other models around the world took offence to this, calling Kendall out on her privilege in being able to be selective and not worrying about getting gigs to pay bills - after all, Kendall was listed as the top paid supermodel in the world last year. As Polish model Jac Jagaciak said: “So disrespectful to literally 99% of people in the industry – yes they had to work their way up. Please get in touch with the real world!” While Kendall later tweeted that her words had been “taken out of context”, and that her respect for her fellow models is “immeasurable”, it looks like this reality star needs a reality check.
