Australian brand, Lover, goes into voluntary administration
Celebrated Australian brand, Lover, has gone into voluntary administration according to financial advisory firm, Ferrier Hodgson. While Lover have not released a statement regarding the decision, they will still proceed to operate online. All garments have been marked down, as Ferrier Hodgson works closely with Lover management to assess the business and potentially find a suitable acquirer to take over the brand.
Sarah and Sebastian launch their flagship store
Renowned Australian fine jewellery brand, Sarah and Sebastian, have launched their flagship store in Sydney. Sarah and Sebastian teamed up with architect Mark Landini, to design a boutique embellished with traditional bricks-and-mortar on Oxford Street, Paddington. The launch celebrated co-founders Sarah Gettoes and Robert Sebastian Grynkofki, expanding their luxury brand internationally through their online space and through stockists such as Incu. The event was hosted by Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl, with guests addressed by Gittoes and Grynkofki who remarked that the inception of the store still feels “surreal”.
Greenpeace’s MAKE SMTHNG Week
From the 2nd until the 10th December this year, Greenpeace celebrates MAKE SMTHNG Week. The week encourages participants to replace their usual buying habits with making an item (or more) of clothing out of materials they already own. Aiming to turn away from consumerism and heavily perpetuated throw-away culture, Fashion Revolution Australia and New Zealand have also teamed up with Greenpeace to create the #haulternative challenge, which encourages partakers to share their upcycled creations online. Not only does the week encourage the upcycling of clothes, but also the creation of cosmetics, sharing of clothes, using bikes instead of emission-producing vehicles, cooking and mending of electronics.
