You know those moments when you’re out and about, when you suddenly spot a shirt – or jacket – or jeans – and you fall in love? Or when you’re scrolling through your Instagram feed and you see someone from high school in a killer outfit and you want to ask about it but don’t want to seem like a stalker? Well, your problems have been solved now that ASOS have launched their Style Match visual search feature worldwide.

Available now on the ASOS app, which is downloadable for iOS and Android devices, Style Match allows you to upload or capture a picture of clothing or accessories and reverse search ASOS’ extensive catalogue for something similar.

So how does it work?

Firstly, you’ll need to download the ASOS mobile app. Once you’ve launched it, simply tap on the search bar, click on the camera icon, and either choose a photo from your gallery or take one on the spot. Zoom in on the item you’re interested in, then press done – and within seconds, the app will show you a list of their lookalike items!

Originally launched in August of last year for UK shoppers only, the British e-retail giant has now made the feature available for their 16 million plus consumers worldwide.

Born from the company’s desire to streamline their platform and make shopper’s experiences easier and more functional, this new feature responds to the increase in mobile shopping noticed by ASOS in recent years.

“We know this is where our customers are and it’s how they interact with us every day,” Andy Berks, ASOS’ digital product director said in a press release. “Inspiration can strike you anywhere and at any time – whether it’s a photo in a magazine, scrolling through an Instagram feed or even on a local street corner.”

So, if you’re feeling inspired, search “ASOS” in your app store, start snapping photos and screenshotting your social feeds, and get shopping.
