Mac DeMarco has offered up two new tracks from his forthcoming full-length, ‘This Old Dog’, due in full on May 5th. This is the Canadian artists first release since mini-LP ‘Another One’, which featured a series of songs about the highs and lows of love and relationships. In the initial press release for the album, DeMarco explains the recording process, saying:

“I demoed a full album, and as I was moving to the West Coast I thought I’d get to finishing it quickly. But then I realized that moving to a new city, and starting a new life takes time. Usually I just write, record, and put it out; no problem. But this time, I wrote them and they sat. When that happens, you really get to know the songs. It was a different vibe.”

So far the first two singles present a more personal tone and some new instrumentation. Acoustic guitars and electronic drum patterns replace electric guitars and live kits. “… this is a new thing for me” says DeMarco, comfortable and confident as always.

DeMarco is currently set to tour parts of America, Europe and North Europe, with no Australian dates announced at present. See the track-listing for ‘This Old Dog’ below:
