18 days.

18 days.

18 days. is a series of photographs captured during a recent trip to Japan, comprising images taken in Tokyo, Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka, Naoshima, and Hiroshima.

Every city brought with it something new. Everywhere we’d turn, there would be something else asking to be captured. I will, however, admit that there was also something nice in not bringing a camera around with me everywhere I went, something peaceful in appreciating the light, the space, the interaction, for what it was, in the moment.

This aside, I wanted to challenge myself to focus on composition (made easier using a point and shoot). It was important to me that I didn’t just take photos of the tourist attractions we found ourselves at (although there was some of that) - I also wanted to capture everyday life, and the pride with which many executed their every action.
