“Untitled” by Photographer Yichen Zhou
Beijing-based photographer Yichen Zhou walks the line between reality and illusion with her “Untitled” series. Started in 2011, the long-term project explores the absurdity of a world dramatically changed by rapidly evolving technology. “It is certain we have more information than the past generation, which does not mean we have better,” she explains. “There is a huge difference between information and knowledge.”
Every year Zhou returns to her birthplace of Inner Mongolia for the project. Using performance to reflect both her surroundings and inner world, the images in “Untitled” speak to what she perceives as the illogical and often futile behaviors within modern society.
